Himveda

Our Story

The search that became Himveda

2006

When we graduated as Ayurvedic doctors in 2006, we should have felt ready.

Instead, we felt restless.

The education we had received had given us a strong foundation, but deep down, both of us sensed that there was more to Ayurveda than what could be learned within the walls of a classroom.

So we went searching.

For the next two years, we travelled across India, learning from experienced practitioners who had quietly dedicated their lives to healing. We worked alongside doctors in villages, spent time with traditional healers living close to nature, and witnessed forms of wisdom that rarely make their way into textbooks. Those years taught us some of our most valuable lessons: to observe carefully, remain humble, and never stop learning.

Early journey of learning
2008–10

In 2008, we returned to pursue our postgraduate studies, combining the wisdom of experience with academic rigor. By the time we completed our master's degrees in 2010, a shared dream had become clear.

We wanted to build a place where Ayurveda could be practiced with sincerity — rooted in classical wisdom, enriched by experience, and adapted thoughtfully to modern life.

The easier path was already laid out before us.

Government jobs offered security and prestige. Corporate hospitals promised stable careers. In India, these opportunities are considered blessings, and many encouraged us to take them.

We wanted the freedom to practice Ayurveda the way we believed it should be practiced — to spend time understanding each individual, to continue questioning and learning, and to place healing before systems and protocols.

So we chose uncertainty over comfort.

Somewhere during those early years, a quote attributed to Swami Vivekananda found its way onto our Facebook feed:

“Burn the bridges behind you. Leave no retreat. There's only one way home.”

We laughed instantly.

By then, we had already set fire to our own bridges without fully realizing it. The safer roads were behind us.

There was only one direction left. All that remained was to move forward — with faith, hard work, and perhaps a little youthful foolishness.

And so, with no guarantees and no safety net to fall back on, we moved forward.

2012

In 2012, Himveda began in a single room.

There were no plans and no guarantees. Just a sincere intention: to serve people honestly and practice Ayurveda with integrity.

One patient became another. One room became several.

Slowly, Himveda grew.

What humbled us most was the trust people placed in us. Patients came from nearby villages and towns, from across Himachal Pradesh and India, and eventually from different parts of the world. Their faith encouraged us to continue exploring the deeper principles of Ayurveda, especially the understanding of gunas — the qualities that shape both health and disease.

As Himveda expanded, another dream emerged: to create a healing space closer to nature.

The founding vision
2018–23

In 2018, we were able to purchase the land where Himveda stands today. Then came the pandemic. Construction paused, restarted, and tested our patience in ways we had never imagined. Finally, in 2023, the doors of our present clinic opened.

Yet, despite everything that has changed, one thing remains the same.

We still consider ourselves students.

Students of this vast science. Students of nature. Students of the people who trust us with their stories.

In a world overflowing with information and conflicting advice, our mission is simple: to help people heal through authentic Ayurveda while making its timeless wisdom practical, understandable, and relevant to modern life—without losing its essence.

Himveda was never just about building a hospital.

It has always been about preserving a way of seeing — one that values simplicity, curiosity, compassion, and a deep respect for the intelligence of the human body.

And this journey is far from over.

To every patient who has trusted us and walked alongside us, thank you. Your faith has shaped Himveda and continues to inspire us every single day.

With gratitude,
